Meet Dr. Christine Carter

Christine Carter, Ph.D. is a best-selling author, speaker, and coach specializing in the science of habits, health, and happiness.
Dr. Carter is the founder of Wellspan, a program that uses wearable technology, lifestyle medicine, and behavioral science to help women grow stronger, wiser, and more joyful. She helps people build daily habits that support both physical and mental health, helping us live with greater purpose and meaning.
As a sociologist, Dr. Carter works to create systemic change in healthcare institutions, workplaces, families, and schools—focusing on how our social environments shape behavior and wellbeing.
Dr. Carter was the executive director of UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center, where she remains a Senior Fellow. She is an advisor on the BetterUp Science Board, and she teaches at the Modern Elder Academy in Baja California and Santa Fe. Her books include The New Adolescence, The Sweet Spot: How to Achieve More by Doing Less, Raising Happiness, and The Other Side of Silence.
Her multiple TED Talks have been viewed over 3 million times, with her most recent talk ranking in the top 5 most viewed in 2021. She has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, The Daily Show, and been featured in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and in every major national news publication.
A summa cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College and the recipient of multiple honors and awards, Dr. Carter earned her master’s and doctoral degrees at UC Berkeley (Go Bears!). She is a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and she holds a certificate from Harvard Medical School in Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching.
