What is this?

We here at Raising Happiness don’t like the trends:

  • Our kids, particularly our teens and college students, are increasingly depressed, anxious, and even suicidal.
  • We parents are also not stunning pictures of joy – in fact, we tend to be less happy than our childless peers.
  • This problem is huge, and global.  The World Health Organization recently named depression as the single most serious chronic threat to global health.  It is a bigger problem than heart disease, asthma, and diabetes.

Researchers know a lot about why we are less happy today than we have been in previous generations, and we have a pretty good idea how to fix it.  The new science of happiness gives us a clear road-map—a guide to those activities, skills, and beliefs that are highly likely to raise our happiness.

We hope you’ll join our movement of people spreading happiness by practicing simple skills that bring more joy into their own lives and into the lives of children.

For today, that’s all you need to do: just sign the pledge! Putting your intention out there to raise happiness is an important first step.  From there, we’ll send you other simple and fun ideas for extending your “happiness practice.” (You can easily opt-out of these tips, too–signing the pledge is enough for some people.  Really!)
